ShepherdSync SMS Opt-In Consent

This page publicly documents the SMS opt-in consent process used by ShepherdSync, The Shepherd Network™ LLC's volunteer scheduling and service coordination platform. The consent control below is the exact checkbox and disclosure that volunteers encounter when setting up their ShepherdSync account.

The checkbox is unchecked by default. Users must affirmatively select the checkbox to opt in to SMS messaging. Providing a mobile number alone does not constitute consent. SMS is optional — email and in-app messaging remain available to all volunteers regardless of SMS consent.

Sending Number & Program Description

Recurring ShepherdSync SMS messages are sent from (502) 517-7226.

SMS messages for the ShepherdSync Volunteer Scheduling & Service Notifications program are sent from (502) 517-7226. The (502) 517-9093 number is the general contact/Google Voice number and does not originate ShepherdSync campaign messages.

End-User Consent Description: End users voluntarily opt in to receive recurring ShepherdSync Volunteer Scheduling & Service Notifications SMS/text messages from The Shepherd Network™ LLC through the ShepherdSync registration or account-settings process. Recurring ShepherdSync SMS messages are sent from (502) 517-7226. A separate SMS consent checkbox is presented unchecked by default and must be affirmatively selected by the user. Consent is optional, separate from acceptance of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and is not required to create an account or volunteer. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. The public opt-in disclosure is available at https://theshepherdnetwork.org/sms-consent.

Campaign Description: ShepherdSync Volunteer Scheduling & Service Notifications is the volunteer scheduling and ministry coordination platform operated by The Shepherd Network™ LLC. Registered volunteers who have affirmatively opted in receive recurring SMS messages related to volunteer availability requests, scheduling confirmations, assignment reminders, schedule changes, Change Request confirmations, Emergency Fill Protocol notifications, training notices, and other operational communications. Message frequency varies based on scheduling activity. Users may opt out at any time by replying STOP.

ShepherdSync SMS Opt-In Checkbox

This is the exact opt-in control shown to ShepherdSync volunteers. The checkbox starts unchecked by default.

Note: This is a public demonstration of the opt-in control. Actual consent is recorded within the ShepherdSync application when a volunteer affirmatively checks the box.

Opt-In Confirmation Message

When a volunteer opts in, the following confirmation message is sent from (502) 517-7226:

You are now subscribed to ShepherdSync Volunteer Scheduling & Service Notifications messages from The Shepherd Network™ LLC. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for assistance or STOP to unsubscribe.

This message originates from (502) 517-7226, the registered ShepherdSync SMS program number.

What Is Recorded When Consent Is Given

When a volunteer affirmatively checks the SMS opt-in checkbox, the following information is recorded:

  • •Mobile telephone number
  • •Consent status (granted or declined)
  • •Date and time of consent
  • •Campaign/program name (ShepherdSync)
  • •Disclosure version
  • •Source of consent (ShepherdSync opt-in form)
  • •Later opt-out status (updated if the user replies STOP or opts out through other means)

How the Opt-In Process Works

1

Where users encounter it

The SMS opt-in checkbox appears in the ShepherdSync volunteer setup form, shown to volunteers when they create or update their account. The checkbox is separate from general Terms acceptance and is not bundled with any other consent.

2

Unchecked by default

The checkbox starts unchecked. No SMS messages are sent unless the user affirmatively selects the checkbox.

3

Affirmative selection required

Users must check the box themselves. Providing a mobile number alone does not enroll the user in SMS messaging.

4

SMS is optional

Email and in-app messaging remain available to all volunteers, regardless of whether they opt in to SMS. Volunteers can participate fully without SMS consent.

How to Opt Out and Request Help

To opt out of SMS:

Reply STOP to any SMS/text message from The Shepherd Network™ LLC. You will be immediately removed from all SMS communications.

To request help:

Reply HELP to any ShepherdSync SMS message sent from (502) 517-7226 for assistance.

Email and in-app messaging remain available to all volunteers. You may also contact us at support@theshepherdnetwork.org or by text at (502) 517-9093 (general contact/Google Voice). SMS program messages originate from (502) 517-7226.

Consent Is Separate and Optional

The SMS checkbox is separate from acceptance of the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, account creation, registration, purchase, donation, or other mandatory action. Providing a mobile number alone does not enroll a user in recurring SMS. Users who decline SMS may continue to receive available email and in-app communications.

Message Frequency and Charges

Message frequency varies according to scheduling windows, assignments, Change Requests, Emergency Fill Protocol activity, training or service notices, and other user-requested operational communications. Message and data rates may apply according to the user's wireless plan.

Opt Out

Reply STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE—or use another reasonable method that clearly communicates revocation—to stop recurring messages for which consent is required. The Shepherd Network™ LLC may send one final non-promotional confirmation that the opt-out request was processed.

Reply HELP for assistance. Users may also contact support@theshepherdnetwork.org.

The Shepherd Network™ LLC does not sell, rent, share, transfer, or disclose mobile telephone numbers, SMS opt-in information, or SMS consent to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
